Our primary goal is to build a retinal prosthesis for patient who lost their vision due to the loss of their photoreceptors such as patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. We seek to develop safe and effective retinal prosthesis devices using optics, acoustic wave.
We also aimed to develop various neural prosthesis such as deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, and cortical stimulation for patient suffering from movement disorder, chronic pain, depression, respectively.
As a mean to control and record the neuronal activities, we aimed to develop novel neural interface which is key techniques in developing neural prosthesis. Electromagnetic waves is used to develop novel neural interface and their theoretical origins are being elucidated.
Research Philosophy
Helping or saving people with engineering by two ways.
1. Creating a new thing that have never been proposed before. This is not just combining/partial modifying existing technologies nor implementing a new application, but making a fundamental breakthrough.
2. Local improvements of existing technologies that benefit many people. Every technologies have their weaknesses and finding solutions to make them really useful.
